Give me a Happy Ending...

Remember in middle school and high school when there was that one kid that just wouldn't leave you alone?  He/she was a bully and every now and then you think back on the pain you felt from them and wonder what happened to them?  That happened to me today.

Back in 7th grade there was this boy that was a bully to me.  He would follow me up and down the hallways with taunts.  The most embarrassing thing I remember was in social studies class.  I had started my period that school year so I had a pad in my purse.  During class I kept my purse under my desk (which was the rules).  We were watching a movie in class and during the class he had snuck in and taken the pad out of my purse, colored it with a red marker and threw it on the floor near me.  When the lights came on everyone saw it.  To a girl who JUST started her period and was very sensitive about it that was mortifying.  And to top it off it was a male teacher in the room.  I spent most of the afternoon after that crying in the bathroom with a friend comforting me.  My next period teacher was a female and a friend told her why I was upset so she just let us go.  He disappeared from school by the end of 8th grade and I never saw him again.

This brings us to the present.  I saw a thread on mlm about a little girl being bullied at school.  Bullying pisses me off to no end because 1) the schools need to do something about it since kids are killing themselves over it, and 2) been there done that (been bullied that is).  I started thinking back and remembered him and a few others who were bullies.  So what does anyone do when they want to find someone?  I typed his name into facebook...and I found him!  We even had a mutual friend, so I asked her if that was the same guy and she said yes, so I sent out a friend request.

He responded this morning.  We chatted for a while.  He is a PASTOR now.  We talked a little bit about school and I told him the shortened version of above and how I found him.  This was his response...

"im sorry for that i was an idiot, and really had alot of issues at home that no one even new about, plus i was just wanting attention, i wish i could take it back sorry really, please accept"

Wow!  If 7th grade Lisa could only see this!  I probably wouldn't have cried in the bathroom and missed science class that day.

I told him no apologies necessary, I am just thrilled to know that he is doing well and successful.  He admitted to being into some drugs and that the whole crew he hung out with (also on my list of bullies but couldn't find them on facebook) are now in prison.  It warms my heart to see people turn their lives around...that in itself is worthy of my forgiveness!
