The Good, The Bad, and The Sleepy

My one year old has started a new habit of waking at night to eat.  I am not talking taking a pacifier type nursing at night...she is sucking down a meal at 2am.  I asked the pediatrician about it and he said that because of her growth issues that she can keep doing it for now.  He said obviously not indefinitely because I need to sleep but I need to keep going for now.   I am now back to barely keeping my eyes open during the day.

Her one year didn't go as happy as I expected it to.  Although she was 17pounds on the scale in the office, the doctor didn't really say a lot about it.  He was concerned because her height is not growing as quickly as he would like to see.  We not have to bring her in for a 15 month check up to check the progress on her weight and height.

The other bad news is he doesn't want her on milk yet...he wants her to continue with the toddler formula and breastmilk.  I was hoping to be done breastfeeding at a year, but it looks like we are going longer!

The GOOD news is I got to delay her chicken pox vaccine.  Not that the shot mattered but she had enough shots done that day so it was nice to wait on one.

In other news...

My coworker recently lost her mother to cancer.  It was a hard and very fast fight (she was diagnosed on August 20 and she passed away on August 29).  Over the weekend my coworker was cleaning the house up and talking to a realtor about what to do with the contents of the house.  The realtor knew a family who lost everything in a fire recently.  They had to jump out of a second story window to even escape the fire.  It was a mom, dad, and 15yo girl.  The mom is still in the hospital from her injuries.  My coworker donated all the furniture to that family, who came to pick it all up this weekend.  The daughter's youth group friends were the movers.  I know my coworker's mother, and I know she would be THRILLED to know that her belongings were given to a family who could really use them.  What a wonderful blessing!
