I joined Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago. I figured it was time to once again get rid of the baby weight and the lazy weight.
The first week was great! I went down 5 pounds and even did some Just Dance on the Wii. This week however...
I start my week on Tuesday. That gives me Monday to kind of recover from the weekend and hopefully make up for how much I screwed up with my eating. During the last 7 days, I ate at TGI Fridays, Golden Corral, Digornio Pizza, and too much of a wonderful cheesecake ball. Nothing that I ate was appropriate on the weight watchers diet, so I didn't even enter my points in out of fear of the website admonishing me. I checked my weight this morning and I was still down by 1.6 pounds!
Then, last night I meant to try out Zumba for the first time. The schedule said it started at 7:15, so I got there about 5 after, and the class was in full swing. Apparently they changed the time and I had the OLD time sheet. So since I am there anyway I decide to stick around for Cardio Kickboxing, just to try it out.
Wow.
First they start with jumping jacks. After all the delivery problems with Brandon, jumping is just NOT on my list of things I can do without needing a diaper.
Next came push ups. Lots of push ups. I did them the girly way (with my knees on the floor) and I was still having a hard time.
Then we started doing arm exercises with a medicine ball. I think they call it a medicine ball because you will need medicine after using the ball. My arms were jello.
But no time for jello arms, because next is the punching bag. Now THAT was fun. He gave us a punching combination and we lined up in 3 lines to punch the bag. While waiting he had us run in place, do knee raises, and jumping jacks (for me, running in place again). The instructor teased me because I was hitting the bag so hard it kept sliding off the mat it was on. Apparently I was letting out some pent up frustration and it worked. Once class ended I felt like jello walking to my car.
But the class wasn't over after punching...that would have been too easy for everyone else in the class. Next came the sit ups, using the medicine ball. Now I can barely do sit ups without a medicine ball so I did NOT need an additional 8 pounds on my chest! LOL
Just when I thought we were done the instructor said "okay do the alphabet and you are done." Uhhh, what is that? Apparently, for those who haven't been in a gym for a while like me, the alphabet is lying flat on your back with your legs together straight up and you "write" the letters of the alphabet with your feet. If you think that sounds easy, you try it...after a 45 minute workout. I had to park at the top of the hill behind the building and that little 20-30 feet of walking up the hill felt like Mount Everest.
When I got home I sat down, and Olivia and Brandon came and sat in my lap. I couldn't even feel them sitting there. Then Trevor started banging my foot with his foot from the seat next to me...I SAW it but couldn't feel it. Getting Olivia into bed was comical because for how tiny she is she has never felt heavier to me as she did last night!
Today I am surprisingly okay. My back is a little sore, and my legs are stiff, but not the unimaginable pain I was expecting! I AM feeling muscles in my body that I didn't know existed until today, including all the little muscles in my fingers, making typing feel like a workout itself.
I have learned one important lesson from last night...never be late to Zumba again!
You're off to a great start!!
