Updates

It has been a crazy few weeks in the Griffith house!  We learned that baby boy can now test for his next belt karate, which means moving from the beginner class to the advanced class which will be new and hopefully more motivating for him.  So he has been spending a lot of time focusing on his listening and karate lessons to prepare for the belt test (which is this Saturday).

He also started T-ball last week, which he was excited about as he did it last year.  I must say I am not liking this year nearly as much.  First, the team is having practices.  These are 3-4 year olds and no score is kept.  All kids bat in each inning.  The winning team is technically the one with the most kids.

In addition, the practices are on Tuesdays at 5:00.  I have 2 problems with that.  First, until he passes his belt test, Tuesday is karate day from 5:15-5:45.  NO WAY is he missing karate for t-ball that doesn't keep score. Second, I BARELY make it to Brandon's 5:15 karate class. Tuesdays are crazy for me as I am running to my car to beat traffic and hurrying him when I get to day care to get him to class on time, and that is a 5:15 class taking back roads.  The Y is along the main roads which are busier and is 15 minutes earlier.  No way can I get him there on time.  And I am fortunate to be on an early schedule.  This coach is not being very considerate of working parents, because if I had to work the normal UC schedule of 8-5, there would be no way he'd be there at all.  I expressed this to the coach and he got a little huffy and asked if I would have him there on Saturdays.  Well, duh!  That is when the Y has down as the day for Tball...practices are at the discretion of the team, so nothing that is required.  He said that I am the only one having a problem with the time, which I learned yesterday was not true as another family was arriving the same time I arrived saying it was impossible to get there by 5:00.  We are, I guess, the only working moms on the team.  UGH!

This morning's excitement came from my daughter.  I think she is a magnet for any and all childhood illnesses, maladies, or problems.  Yesterday she was having tummy trouble so I am waiting for the call today to pick her up today.  Then as I was putting her shoes on this morning I saw a dark lump on her heel.  She had a splinter in her heel that is getting infected.  I got her to day care for back up (she is a strong little booger) and she tried to remove it.  No luck, but got a lot of screaming for our efforts.  The teacher said she would try again later today and will keep an eye on it.

Sigh.  Never a dull moment with my little diva!

I recently joined a vendor group on the west side and we have "woohoo thursdays" once a month.  It is a lot of fun and I really enjoy it.  In June my day care was actually the charity of the month, and that worked out great!  Some of the staff had such a good time they are going to go again next month.  I must say I like the way it is run so much better than the other quartermania I'd been to.  I like the use of tickets instead of quarters, and where I am joining while it is new I feel like I am more a part of it, then just joining in.  Not to mention that I was kicked out of the other group before my first auction because some old lady who attended the church complained about having sex toys at a church (even though that was not in my display or items to auction).  Ah the stereotyping and judgment.  One would think I'd be used to it by now.  If they spent more than 5 minutes with me they would learn that I spend my energies focusing on the other aspects of Pure Romance.  The research foundation does so much good, yet all people see is sex toys.  It does no good to stomp my feet or punch walls about it, so I just shake my head and move on.

Trevor is doing well.  Now that we are into the summer he has moved outside.  I mean that almost literally.  He spends most waking hours in the back yard working on the pond or in the garage "cleaning" it.  We recently switched from dish network to cable and he is in heaven.  We all are really.  I don't know why we didn't switch years ago, cable is amazing!  There is so much on demand, playhouse disney, exercise videos, most of our shows, that we really don't even need the DVR, which was our hang up about leaving satellite in the first place.

Overall life is good!!
