Weekend Fun

Very rarely do I have an entire weekend that goes smoothly.  This past weekend was one of those weekends!

On Friday night, we drove out to Amelia to see Cars 2 at the drive in.  Since it is a drive in, there was a double feature so we also got to see Mr. Popper's Penguins.  Very cool!

I was a little surprised by Cars 2.  It was good, don't get me wrong, but a few cars were "killed" by the bad guys which I am not used to seeing in a kids' movie.  They acknowledged Paul Newman's death by saying that the Hudson Hornet died and were going to rename the Piston Cup the Hudson Hornet cup (or something like that).  Brandon loved it!  Olivia was bored from the get go.

Olivia fell asleep after Cars ended, and Brandon stayed awake through most of the second movie.  He liked the stinky penguin, who passed gas all the time....what 4 year old or 34 year old man wouldn't? LOL

I got to see another Harry Potter preview on the big screen which is always a nice thing to see, so overall it was a really good night!

On Saturday I spent the day with the family, spending 40.00 at JC Penney's for 240.00 worth of clothing.  I think my husband is getting the coupon bug.  My niece came over to babysit and I went to see my high school friend perform at the Funny Bone with my hubby, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law.  It was a fun night and thanks to the gift certificate and free tickets from Dave, the whole night cost me 25.00 (plus babysitting costs).

Sunday was the big day.  Most of my family and a few of Trevor's came over for a cook out and fireworks.  I bought a few fireworks, which I called the pre-show, and the main event came from the neighbor across the street who does a professional display that is visible from my front yard. It was such a relaxing and nice evening, made even better by the fact that we had the next day off so could stay up by the fire pit as late as we wanted.  It was a very nice day.

Monday was a day of nothing.  I don't think I did one thing that would be considered productive or useful.  It was very nice at the time, although I am still regretting not doing the dishes from Sunday as they are STILL in my sink.  But hey, everyone needs a break!

It was so nice to have a good weekend, free from stress.  Ironically the only time I was on the computer was to upload photos, so maybe there is a correlation?
