On my way into work this morning I heard the song "Everything I Do, I Do It for You" by Bryan Adams (from Robin Hood with Kevin Costner). Wow did that bring back memories!! That was the first song I ever slow danced with a BOY to (insert girlie squeal here). That got me thinking about other songs and how sometimes I associate songs with specific memories or events in my life simply because I remember hearing them as the background music during the event. Here are a few of mine...
"It's all coming back to me now" by Celine Dion...the bus ride home from Bands of America my senior year in high school.
"Thong song" by Sisqo...the morning of my wedding because I couldn't get the dang song out of my head that morning. Not that it needed any help; it was #1 in the charts at that time and played every 10 minutes on the radio stations.
"Bring Me to Life" by Evanesence...driving into work at 10:30 at night on Finneytown Road in my little geo metro.
"Runaway Train" by soul asylum and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana...being snowed in at my friend Jessica's house for a week in 9th grade.
What about you?
I have a lot but one that always sticks out is The Fugees, Killing me Softly. I had just got MY first car and it had a deep bass beat to it.. we would jam that song ALL the time thinking we were so cool.
