My husband bought this hard drive thing that stores about 1000 movies on it. Since he bought it has been downloading every movie we have, his friends have, we get from netflix, and whatever else we can find to it. I don't know why. There are some movies in there I don't know if we will ever actually watch, but by golly we have them!
Since starting this project, we have been watching a lot of movies we would not ordinarily have watched or rented. Some have been a complete waste of time (KickAss), while others have been really fun and I unexpectedly enjoyed them (How to Train your Dragon).
I wasted 2 hours of my life last night watching Donnie Darko. I don't know if you have ever seen this movie, but if you haven't, then don't. First, there is a creepy bunny character that made me so uncomfortable I had to keep the light on. Second, I was tired when I watched it, which is apparently a No-No with this movie because you have to pay close attention to get what is going on. Third, even for me, a self proclaimed science fiction geek, the time travel plot line has more holes in it than swiss cheese.
My husband had on one of the Saw movies when I got home the other night. Now I know some like those movies, but really? WTH?! I walked in on the scene where there were 6 people tied and spinning around and only 2 could live. How is that justice? Then when the guy is injected with the acid and his body falls in half...ewwww. I was just disturbed after that movie.
I also recently pulled up one of my favorite child hood movies that NO ONE else liked, Xanadu. Wow! How I used to love that cheesy movie! My son has the same movie taste as me because he is always asking me to pull up 2 scenes from the movie, which ironically were my favorite parts as a child. The first is when all the muses come to life and are dancing, and the second is the big end with Olivia Newton John (who my son thinks is his aunt Shell) singing in all the different costumes. We were in the middle of Chuggington the other night and he asked to watch aunt Shell's dance (that is what he calls the muses scene).
I like some new movies too. I have enjoyed watching and picking apart the latest Star Trek movie, but I still see Sylar from "Heroes" every time Spock speaks. I was waiting for Spock to cut someone's brain out.
I think I need to step away from the TV for a while! LOL
