Jury Duty

Even though I worked in the courts for years, I will admit I knew very little about jury service having never had it.  I have been a part of jury trials (well, my CLIENTS were anyway).  But that is about the limit of my involvement.

When someone in Hamilton County is called to Jury Duty, it is a 2 week service.  We are paid 19.00 a day (which my employer snatches since they pay me anyway).  I showed up on the first day (last Monday) and watched a first grade level civics lesson on the parts of the court and how a trial works.  I was wanting to bang my head by the end of it...it insulted a 10 year old's intelligence with how dumbed down it explained everything.  Then I sat here playing on my phone until about 1:00 when I was released.

That was it...until today.

I was a little excited to get called in because it is an easy, short day for me.  Since they do not recommend going into work after service (since you are paid for a full day whether you are here an hour or all day) I though, hey, cool...doubt I will get chosen for a jury knowing my background but maybe I will have an easy day.

I brought my computer today to chat on my mom's site.  Naturally the site is down. Bummer.  Thank goodness for facebook!

I had to sit near an outlet to plug my computer up.  No problem I found an empty area in the corner...right next to the bathrooms.  Apparently someone is not feeling well.  The smells permeating the air where I am sitting have gone from gross to nauseating to downright gag worthy.  A fun mixture of crap, fish, burnt coffee, and BO are the current aromas assaulting my nose.

Can we say cruel and unusual punishment?!
